Botulinum toxin application

Información

The application of botulinum toxin is a medical and aesthetic procedure that involves the injection of a neurotoxin derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This neurotoxin temporarily blocks nerve signals that control muscle contraction, resulting in a reduction of wrinkles and expression lines. It is also used for other medical conditions such as blepharospasm, hemifacial spasms, hyperhidrosis, bruxism, trigeminal neuralgia, migraines, among other uses.

The treatment is primarily used to smooth dynamic wrinkles, those that appear due to repeated facial movements, such as forehead lines, crow's feet, and frown lines. Botulinum toxin is injected with very fine needles at strategic points, and the procedure is quick and relatively painless.

The effects are usually visible after a few days and reach their maximum result in about two weeks. The results are temporary, generally lasting three to six months, at which point the treatment can be repeated if the effect is to be maintained.
