Orbital tumors
Información
A tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue. In the case of orbital tumors, this growth is located in the tissues surrounding the eyeball, formed by muscles, bones, fat, the lacrimal gland, nerves, and blood vessels. They are rare tumors, of various types, and can appear at any time in life. Orbital tumors can be benign or malignant. Benign tumors can cause damage by compressing or displacing the different structures of the orbit. On the other hand, malignant tumors, in addition to invading nearby tissues, can metastasize to other organs or distant lymph nodes. In many cases, the initial sign of the presence of an orbital tumor may be a slight protrusion of the eye outward or the onset of double vision.
