Palpebral ptosis
Información
Palpebral ptosis is an eye condition in which one or both upper eyelids droop abnormally from their normal position. This can be due to weakening or damage to the muscles that lift the eyelid, aging, injuries, or underlying medical conditions. Ptosis can affect vision and cause eye fatigue due to the extra effort required to keep the eyelids open.
Palpebral ptosis can lead to a significant reduction in the visual field, decreased visual acuity, forced head and neck positions, persistent eyebrow elevation, and aesthetic asymmetry.
In the case of congenital ptosis, early ophthalmological evaluation is essential to reduce the risk of amblyopia (lazy eye).
There are several surgical techniques for the treatment of this condition depending on the specific case.
